Week 22: My Father's World K - Unit 18: Zebra

Fancy zebra he made
These past few weeks we've been going over My Father's World Kindergarten Unit 18: Zebra, I can't hid anything from God. We are getting to the point in the school year where I supplement a lot. Overall My Father's World Kindergarten curriculum is good, however, it's very predictable and my son is not finding it very challenging. Although he still likes doing the work, he is just looking for more to do. He's also making up his own work to do or copying the work for me to do some too. We end up doing a week's worth in a few days and then doing extra stuff throughout the week. Obviously you don't have to supplement if you use this curriculum.

He's also been really into math lately and counting. He can count to 1000. He counts to 100 it seems like a few times almost every day. Then he'll go past 100 and count on up. He's getting really good at doing basic addition in his head and can tell you what any combo from 1 to 10 is adding. I think the math curriculum for next year is going to be too easy for him. We might just go through it this summer and then move on to first grade starting in the Fall.

Verse: Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13 NIV

We talked about why zebras have stripes and where they live. We also talked about what other animals live in Africa. In fact, he got to ride on two animals from Africa last week, a camel and an elephant. Blue Rock drew pictures, colored and pasted pictures of animals from Africa to a page I cut out of Africa. He practiced his reading, which he's getting so good at. We played games and had a fun few weeks of homeschool. His last day at his preschool is coming up too. I'll have to post about that after his performance.

Explode the Code work

He's been making some puppets, this is a snow man puppet.
His puppet shows are pretty creative!

Gluing and talking about different animals from Africa

We did some art work where we talked about layering shapes.
He came up with this picture on his own. Excuse the messy office behind him. :)

Making words game. Princess "played" with us.

He copied the page so I could do a page too. His drawing is pretty similar to the original.
He loves reading and fell asleep reading this book a few nights ago.
